ADRIAN - The Calvin women's tennis team got back on the winning track with a 7-2 victory at Adrian Saturday afternoon. The Knights are now 2-2 in league play and 4-9 overall.
Calvin took the early lead with wins at two and three doubles. Senior Bethany Zoerhof (Holland/Holland Christian HS) and Ellie Benzel (San Dimas, CA/San Dimas HS) were 8-4 winners a two doubles while freshman Liz Turner (Audobon, PA/Delaware County Christian HS) and junior Courtney Selvius (Hudsonville/Hudsonville Christian HS) were 8-4 winners at three doubles.
Calvin then took five the of six singles points with junior Megan Visser (Kalamazoo/Kalamazoo Christian HS) rolling to a 6-2, 6-3 win at number-one singles, freshman Claire Spoelhof (Holland/Holland Christian HS) winning 6-3, 6-3 at number-two singles, Zoerhof pulling out a 6-4, 6-7, 10-3 win at number-three singles, Benzel winning 6-0, 6-1 at number-four singles and Turner winning 6-1, 6-0 at number-five singles.
Calvin will host Olivet on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a conference dual match.
