Calvin Women’s Soccer Wins 6-0 at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – The 17th-ranked Calvin University women's soccer team closed its first week of 2026 with a 6-0 win at Oberlin College on Saturday.

Calvin (2-0-0) jumped in front early and never looked back, scoring four times in the first half on the way to giving Oberlin (0-1-1) its first defeat of the season.

Mikaela Waroway (Ann Arbor, Mich./Father Gabriel Richard) opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a header off an assist from Katherine Bergman (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington), and then added a second goal to make  it 2-0 in the 11th minute with a score right in front of the goal off assists from Olivia Rawls (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) and Lexi Glowicki (Rochester, Mich./Lutheran High North) following a short corner.

The Knights struck again off a set piece in the 43rd minute when Zoe Zylstra (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) scored off a rebound from the middle of the box following a corner. Maya Thebeau (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Notre Dame Regional) added the final goal of the half in the final minute of play.

Calvin picked up where it left off in the second half, as Waroway added her third goal of the game off a pass from Ava Steen (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) in the 57th minute. Thebeau finished off the scoring on a beautiful goal from 30 yards out over the Oberlin keeper in the 73rd minute to make the final score 6-0.

The Calvin defense held Oberlin to only three shots for the day, with the first shot coming after more than 50 minutes of play. Keepers Aubree Lee (Lowell, Mich./Lowell/Tiffin University) and McKenna Hoebeke (Freeport, Mich./Thornapple Kellogg) combined for the clean sheet, with Hoebeke recording all three saves.

Waroway's three goals give her four so far this season. Zylstra and Thebeau each scored their first collegiate goals on the day.

COACH'S COMMENT: "It's great to get another result on the road today," head coach Emily Ottenhoff said. "Also nice to see a number of different goal scorers. We have a lot of work to do to keep improving as a team and look forward to our next opportunity to compete on Tuesday."

NEXT UP: Calvin women's soccer will return to action on Tuesday, September 8, when it travels to North Central College for a contest scheduled to start at 7:00 PM (CT).
