Calvin University junior quarterback Thomas Vaccaro was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Vaccaro (Franklin, Tenn./Christ Presbyterian/Samford University) earned the honor following a record-breaking performance in the Knights' 66-20 win over The University of Olivet on Saturday, September 26, as Calvin opened Knight Stadium.
 
In the win, Vaccaro set a new Calvin football single-game record with six touchdown passes and completed 28 of 37 attempts for 365 yards in less than three quarters of action. He also ran five times for 18 yards and one score in the win.
 
This season, Vaccaro leads NCAA III with 19 touchdown passes through four games, while also leading the country in points responsible for (126) and ranking second in total offense (359.8 combined yards passing and rushing per game), seventh in passing efficiency (210.2) and eighth in passing yards per game (314.5). The junior quarterback also leads a Calvin offense that ranks first in NCAA team total offense per game (590.8) and ranks seventh in scoring offense (52.3 points per game).
 
Vaccaro has completed 74 percent of his passes this season (90-121) for 1,258 yards.
 
The 4-0 Calvin football team will return to action on Saturday, October 3, when it plays at Adrian College in a game scheduled to kickoff at 3:00 PM.
