Calvin University junior quarterback Thomas Vaccaro was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for football on Monday.
 
Vaccaro (Franklin, Tenn./Christ Presbyterian/Samford University) won the honor for his record-breaking performance in a 66-20 win over The University of Olivet on Homecoming Saturday as Calvin opened new Knight Stadium.
 
In less than three quarters of action, Vaccaro set a new Calvin football single-game record with six touchdown passes and added another rushing score for seven total touchdowns in the win. Vaccaro finished the day 28-37 passing for 365 yards and six scores while adding 18 rushing yards on five attempts.
 
This season, Vaccaro leads all of NCAA III with 19 touchdown passes. He has completed 74 percent of his passes for 1,258 yards and 19 scores against two interceptions for the 4-0 Knights.
 
Calvin football will return to action on Saturday, October 3, when it travels to Adrian College for a game scheduled to kick off at 3:00 PM.
