Calvin University junior quarterback Thomas Vaccaro was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for football on Monday.

Vaccaro (Franklin, Tenn./Christ Presbyterian) won the honor after a record-breaking performance in a 54-9 win over Kalamazoo College on October 17 at Knight Stadium to help the Knights improve to 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in MIAA play.

In the win, Vaccaro set new Calvin single-game records for touchdown passes (eight) and total yards (404) while completing 27 of 34 passing attempts for 334 yards and rushing 11 times for 70 yards in only three quarters of work. His eight passing touchdowns also set a new MIAA single-game record.

This season, Vaccaro ranks second in NCAA III in passing touchdowns (29) and leads the nation in points responsible for per game (31.0). He also ranks sixth in passing efficiency (199.6), seventh in completion percentage (.729) and eighth in passing yards (1,803) while leading a Calvin offense that ranks fifth in passing offense (330.2 yards per game) and eighth in scoring offense (46.7 points per game).

This marks the second time this season Vaccaro has been named MIAA Football Offensive Player of the Week.

Calvin football will return to action on Saturday, October 24, when it hosts Albion College at Knight Stadium for a game scheduled to kick off at 1:00 PM.
