GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Today the Michigan Intercollegiate Association announced the 2025-26 recipients of its MIAA Academic Elite Award. This award is presented annually to male and female student-athletes in each sport with the highest cumulative grade-point average. In order to qualify as a recipient honorees must have at least two years of varsity participation and hold junior or senior academic standing.
Student-athletes who lead their sport in cumulative GPA are recognized in each sport they compete in, meaning individuals with top academic marks in multiple sports–such as cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field–are honored multiple times. Furthermore, in the case of identical GPAs, multiple student-athletes may be honored in the same sport.
This year a total of 144 awards will be given out across the MIAA with Calvin University accounting for Academic Elite accolades. The Knights had 12 athletes who posted a perfect 4.00 GPA. Calvin's 2025-26 Academic Elite honorees include:
