Calvin Lands Six on CSC Division III Men's At-Large Division Academic All-District Team

Six Calvin University student-athletes have received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in the Division III At-Large Division.

The CSC Men's Division III At-Large Division includes the varsity sports of lacrosse, volleyball, ice hockey, fencing, golf, gymnastics, rifle, skiing, water polo and wrestling.

The six Calvin athletes receiving the distinction are seniors Braden Carpenter (men's lacrosse), Nate Hanson (men's lacrosse). Matt Turcotte (men's golf), juniors Brady Gudauskas (men's volleyball) and Nick Bultje (men's volleyball) and sophomore Ezekiel Jalan. In addition, Turcotte has been selected for the national ballot and is now eligible for CSC Academic All-America consideration. 

To be honored, each student athlete must be a sophomore or higher in academic standing and must have a cumulative 3.50 grade point average. Individuals must have played in either 90 percent of their team's competitions or started in 67 percent of them. Each school is limited to six nominations.

BRADEN CARPENTER (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville HS)

Carpenter is receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the third straight year. He recently graduated from Calvin with a degree in kinesiology while holding a 3.93 grade point average. He plans to attend graduate school to become a physician's assistant. He has been a three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and an eight-time member of the Calvin Dean's List.

A forward with the men's lacrosse team, Carpenter finished second on the team this spring in scoring with 44 points on the strength of 27 goals and 17 assists. He finished his career with 91 goals, 39 assists and 130 points. He ranks fourth on the Calvin career list in points, third in goals and eighth in assists.

NATE HANSON (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS)

Hanson is also receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the third straight year. He recently graduated from Calvin with a degree in finance while holding minors in information systems and ministry leadership and sporting a 3.90 grade point average. He has been a three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and an eight-time member of the Calvin Dean's List.

A faceoff specialist, Hanson was a member of the 2026 All-MIAA Second Team. He was a six-time MIAA Specialist of the Week during his career. This season, he won a career-best 62.1 percent of his faceoffs and finished his career with a 58.2 percent faceoff win rate. He was also credited with 142 ground balls this season and became Calvin's career record holder for ground balls with 402. He had two goals and an assists as a senior and finished his career with six goals, five assists and 11 points.

MATT TURCOTTE (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS)

Turcotte is receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the third consecutive year. Turcotte graduated from Calvin this May with a degree in finance while holding minors in supply chain management and sports management. He produced a grade point average of 3.88. Last summer, he was named a Cobalt Golf Scholar All-American. He has been a three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and an eight-time member of the Calvin Dean's List.

A four-year standout with the Calvin men's golf team, Turcotte was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Golfer this spring. He also landed a spot on the All-MIAA First Team for the third straight year. He was part of a Calvin men's golf team that captured the MIAA Title this spring and placed 23rd at the NCAA III Championships. He narrowly missed advancing to the individual finals of the NCAA III Championships, losing in a playoff to a fellow competitor after day two of the team competition. He averaged 74.3 strokes-per-round over the course of the season including 72.3 strokers-per-round in conference play.

BRADY GUDAUSKAS (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley HS)

An outsider hitter with the men's volleyball team, Gudauskas is receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time. A double-major in finance and accounting, Gudauskas holds a grade point average of 3.78. He is a two-time member of the MCVL All-Academic Team and has been a six-time member of the Calvin Dean's List.

This spring, he was named to the All-MVCL Second Team. He hit at a .266 clip while averaging 2.60 kills-per-set and amassing 43 service aces.

NICK BULTJE (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian HS)

Bultje is receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the second straight year. A biology major plans to attend medical school, Bultje holds a 3.83 grade point average. He has also been a two-time member of the MCVL All-Academic Team and is a six-time member of the Calvin Dean's List.

A middle blocker, Bultje hit at a team-leading .363 hitting percentage this spring while averaging 2.0 kills, 1.08 blocks and 2.75 points-per-set. He finished the season third ranked sixth nationally in blocks-per-set and 30th in hitting percentage. He was named to the All-MCVL Second Team.

EZEKIEL JALAN (Oconomowoc, Wis./Arrowhead HS)

The starting setter on a Calvin men's volleyball team that finished 21-5 this season, Jalan holds a double-major in accounting and finance. He holds a 3.96 grade point average. He was named to the MCVL All-Academic Team last year and is a four-time member of the Calvin Dean's List.

On the court, he averaged 9.09 assists and 1.43 digs-per-set. He finished the year ranked 31st nationally in assists-per-set and hit at a .247 clip.
