Today Calvin University softball pitcher Brooke Hunderman was named First Team All-Region VII by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Entering Friday's NCAA Regional semifinal game at eleventh-ranked Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, Hunderman had a 15-9 record this season and held opposing teams to just a .213 batting average.

This honor is added to Hunderman's already long list of post season awards including an All-MIAA First Team nod and MIAA Most Valuable Pitcher honors following the conference season.

Hunderman led the way in the MIAA this season in several statistical categories including innings pitched (175.2), shutouts (5), strikeouts (213), strikeouts looking (82), and opponent batting average (.200). She also ranks twelfth nationally this season in strikeouts with 156 total under her belt.

With Hunderman leading the way in the circle, Calvin finished – in the MIAA to take second place in the final standings. The Knights earned an at-large bid in the NCAA Division III Softball Championships, where they won their opening game against Bethany Lutheran by a score of 8-0 in five innings on Thursday (May 14).
