Calvin's Becky Hilgert Named to NCAA III Softball National Committee

Calvin University softball coach Becky Hilgert has been named to the NCAA III Softball National Committee.

As a national committee member, Hilgert will be part of a group that develops policies and procedures governing the administration and conduct of the NCAA III Softball Championship. Hilgert will begin her term on the 10-member national committee on September 1 and will continue through August 31, 2030.

Hilgert is headed into her 11th year as head Calvin University softball coach. In addition, she serves as Calvin's Assistant Director of Athletics. As part of her assistant Calvin AD duties, she serves as Calvin's compliance director for athletics.

In 10 years as head coach, she has amassed a won-loss record of 262-118 that includes five trips to the NCAA III Tournament. Eight of her Calvin teams have earned the MIAA Team GPA Award for maintaining a cumulative team grade point average of 3.30 or above.

In 2026, Hilgert was named MIAA Softball Coach of the Year after leading the Knights to a 32-15 season that featured a trip to the NCAA Regional Final. The Knights finished second in the MIAA with a 13-3 league record and made it to the MIAA Tournament Final.

She has led Calvin to the NCAA III Tournament five times. She has also served as a frequent site administrator for NCAA III Regional and Super-Regional competition.

"I am honored to have been nominated and appointed to serve on the 10-member NCAA Division III Softball Committee, representing Region VII," said Hilgert. "I am excited to be a part of the planning and execution of future softball championships and speak into various policies and procedures to improve the student-athlete experience. As someone who has had teams in the NCAA Tournament and served as a NCAA site representative in various capacities, this appointment is a great step forward to continue my growth and knowledge as a head coach and athletic administrator."

Hilgert graduated from St. Thomas University (Minn.) with a bachelor's degree in political science while holding a minor in communications. She completed her Masters of Science degree in recreation and sports sciences with an emphasis in coaching education at Ohio University in 2016.
