Calvin University senior
Nate Hanson was named MIAA Specialist of the Week for men's lacrosse on Monday.
Hanson (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) won the honor for his performance in the faceoff X in a pair of Calvin wins last week at Trine University (8-7) and against Alma College (23-2).
In the two wins, Hanson won 68.75 percent on faceoffs with 13 ground balls to help the Knights open league play with a 2-0 record, including winning a faceoff late in the one-goal win over Trine after the Knights had scored the go-ahead goal. In the win over Alma, Hanson went 15-15 on faceoffs in the first half.
This season, Hanson has won 61.3 percent of his faceoffs with 138 wins. He is the Calvin all-time record holder with 766 career faceoff wins. His career faceoff percentage of 57.6 ranks second in program history.
This marks the fifth time Hanson has been named MIAA Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week.
Calvin men's lacrosse is 9-2 this season and will return to action on Wednesday, April 8, when it plays at Albion College at 7:00 PM.
