RESULTS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's track and field fought off cold and blustery conditions to post several sterling marks Saturday at its own Knight Invite.
The highlight of the track performances was the finish of Calvin's 4x100 meter relay team. It's relay team of freshman
Rayn Rutley (Fenton, MI/Fenton), freshman
Kaitlyn DiMaggio (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn HS), freshman
Alison Bailey (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey HS) and graduate student
Sydney Radigan (Portland, Ore./St. Stephen's Academy) took first in a school-record time of 47.05, breaking the previous record of 47.30 set in 2001. Saturday's record-time ranks 13
th on the current NCAA III Outdoor performance list.
Calvin went 1-3-6 in the 800 meters, receiving another strong performance from sophomore
Peyton Ludwig (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Central HS) who won the race in 2:15.45 while freshman
Emma Wierenga (Grafton, Mass./Whitinsville Christian HS) was third (2:16.88) and sophomore
Kennedi Wood (Comstock Park, Mich./Sparta HS) sixth (2:20.27).
The Knights flashed speed in the 100 hurdles. In the prelims, senior
Mia DeJonge (Bellevue, Wash./Bellevue Christian HS) cranked out the second-best time of her career, clocking in at 14:54. Freshman
Ava Sanchez-Mustapha (Okemos, Mich./Lansing Christian HS) had a career-best time of 14.89 with sophomore
Cadence Drougal (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS) also clocking in at 14.89. Freshman
Abby Lambers (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) came in at 15.09 as the quartet made the finals. In the finals, DeJonge lowered her time to 14.51 to place second with Drougal fourth (14.91), Sanchez-Mustapha fifth (15.03) and Lambers sixth (15.09).
In the prelims of the 100 meters, Calvin had several good times.
Mia DeJonge was second at 12.74 with sophomore
Audra Davids (Crown Pointe, INÂ Illiana Christian) seventh (13.38) and junior
Rachel Balaraju eighth (13.42).
Calvin went 3-4 in the steeplechase with graduate student
Alaina Smith (Sterling, Il. Seoul Foreign School) was third (11:48.83) and senior
Catie Kramer (Pickering, Ont./Dunbarton HS) fourth (11:58.90). Freshman
Annika DeJong (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore HS) was sixth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:09.81) with senior
Marcail Schuurmann (Lombard, Ill./Timothy Christian HS) seventh (1:10.93).

Trinity Kolka (Sanford, Mich./Meridian HS) was eighth in the 400 meters (1:04.74). Calvin also went 2-3-5-6 in the 200 meters with sophomore
Jillian Tunnicliff (St. Joseph, Mich./St. Joseph HS) second (26.50), sophomore
Jessica Bossenbroek (Holt, Mich./Holt HS) third (26.68), Davids fifth (27.60) and freshman
Lola Davey (Cedar Springs, Mich./Rockford HS) sixth (27.61).
Senior
Sofie Schumerth (Appleton, Wisc./Kimberly HS) was seventh in the 5,000 meters (20:46.89).
Calvin flexed its muscle in the field events.

Katie Seinen (Jenison, Mich./Unity Christian HS) took second in the pole vault with a season-best vault of 11-11 ¾ that ranks 29
th nationally. Senior
Laura Robotham (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia HS) was sixth (10-10).

Julienne Strydom (Meyerton, South Africa) and sophomore
Alina Veltkamp (Lynden, Wash./Lynden Christian HS) tied for first place with leaps of 16-5 ¾ with senior
Katelyn DeJonge (Bellevue, Wash./Bellevue Christian HS) third (15-9 ¾) and sophomore
Emma Tubergen (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) sixth (14-3). In the triple jump, Strydom took first with a hop, skip and jump of 35-1 ¾. Veltkamp was second (34-6 ¾),
Katelyn DeJonge third (31-10 ¾), Tubergen fifth (29-10 ¾) and senior
Rachel Post (Wycoff, NJ/Eastern Christian HS) sixth (29-5 ½).
Senior
RyAnn Rohrer (Ludington, Mich./Ludington HS) had a strong day, taking second in the discus (128-8) and first in the shot put (39-5 ¼). Sophomore
Lily Burns (Dexter, Mich./Dexter HS) was seventh (36-0 ¾). Burns was fifth in the javelin (91-1). Junior
Mikah Bazuin (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center HS) was sixth in the hammer throw (134-9).
COACHES COMMENT: "A really good day for our team," said Calvin head track and field coach
Adam Haldorson. "The (weather) conditions were not always ideal but our team competed hard and competed well. It was great to see a school record fall and several personal bests achieved. We are always thankful to compete at home and today was no different."
NEXT UP: A group of Calvin heptathletes will compete at the MIAA Multi-Event Championships next Monday and Tuesday at Hope College with competition set to start at 11:30 a.m. each day.
