ADA, Ohio - Today the Calvin women's lacrosse team got back in the win column when it picked up a dominant 17-10 victory over the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern. With today's win the Knights improve to a 6-4 overall record as they wrap up non-conference play.

The Knights wasted no time getting things rolling as senior Audrey Booher (Fishers, Ind./Heritage Christian) and sophomore Delaney Johnson (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) scored back-to-back goals in the first four minutes to give Calvin a 2-0 lead. Senior Morgan Bethard (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) and freshman Megan Gibbs (Perrysburg, Oh./Perrysburg) both got in on the scoring action while Booher and Johnson added to their totals as the Knights outscored the Polar Bears 6-2 in the first period.

Looking to bounce back, Ohio Northern put up more of the fight in the second period as both teams scored four goals apiece. Heading into halftime the Knights held a 10-6 lead over the Polar Bears and out shot Ohio Northern 21-11 in the first third minutes of play.

Calvin kept its foot on the gas in the third period as it opened the second half on a 3-0 scoring run. Ohio Northern answered with two goals of their own before Booher notched her fourth goal of the game off an assist from junior Ainsley Gothard (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) to extend the Knights lead to 14-8.

The Knights finished what they started in the fourth period as they outscored Ohio Northern 3-2 and went on to pick up the dominant 17-10 victory.
