Blake Boehm will enter his 16th season as the head coach of the Calvin University women’s lacrosse team. In the 13 seasons as a varsity program under his watch, Calvin has an 115-87 record, with nine winning seasons. In 10 MIAA seasons under Boehm, the Knights have tallied a 67-21 record.
Boehm picked up his 100th victory at the varsity level on March 8, 2024, in a 14-12 win over Cal Lutheran University.
He has led Calvin to the MIAA Tournament nine times and to the NCAA III Tournament three times.Â
In 2025, the Knights tied the program record with 12 wins and finished second in the final MIAA standings with a 5-2 league record.Â
In 2021, Calvin captured a share of its fourth MIAA regular season title including its first since 2018.Â
In 2018, the Knights advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round for the third-straight year. The Knights finished the season at 12-6 and posted a perfect 8-0 record in MIAA play. Calvin had six All-MIAA selections and had the first MIAA Offensive MVP in program history in Kelly Pepper.Â
In 2017, Boehm and the Knights captured the MIAA regular season title and MIAA Tournament title in the same season for the first time in program history. The Knights advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Calvin had six All-MIAA selections, including senior Emily Cefaratti, who was the first Calvin women's lacrosse player to be named MIAA Defensive MVP and an IWLCA All-Region selection.Â
Boehm led the Knights to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016. Calvin reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament after defeating Albion in the MIAA Tournament, 12-11. Boehm’s Knights finished the season with a 12-6 record and a 7-1 MIAA record. The Maroon and Gold had five All-MIAA selections, including three on the first team.
In 2015, Boehm led Calvin to its first-ever MIAA regular season championship as the Knights posted an 8-0 league record. Calvin's 2015 team had six All-MIAA selections including three on the All-MIAA first team.
In its second season as an NCAA Division III varsity program, Boehm led the Knights to a 6-2 conference record to take third place in the MIAA. Calvin finished with an overall record of 10-6. Calvin's 2014 team had five players receive All-Conference honors.
Boehm began his coaching career in the fall of 2007 as the head coach of the women’s club lacrosse team at Calvin College. In his first year, he led the Knights to an undefeated (11-0) season and their first ever Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) conference title. In his five seasons with the club team, Boehm posted a career record of 39-21.
In 2007, Boehm co-founded the Woodland Sports Lacrosse Program in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A program that offers off-season youth lacrosse leagues in the Grand Rapids area.
Boehm graduated from Calvin University in 2006 where he was a face-off midfielder and a two-year captain on the men's club team. During his four seasons, the Knights captured four Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA) championships and made two Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) National Tournament appearances. During his senior season, Boehm earned All-Conference accolades.Â
Boehm holds a Bachelor's of Arts in exercise science & physical education from Calvin University. In addition to coaching at Calvin, Blake is a Realtor with Greenridge Realty in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He and his wife, Corey, live in Grand Rapids with their son Bodie and daughter Saylor.
