KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Calvin University women's tennis team lost its match to 32nd-ranked Denison University 7-0 on Saturday morning at Kalamazoo College.
Denison (6-2) was in control of the match from start to finish, winning all three doubles matches before topping Calvin (0-4) in all six singles match in straight sets.
The match started with doubles, where the Big Red topped the Knights' one-doubles team of
Ryan Morey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) and
Marina Ribeiro (santos Sal Paolo, Brazil/Santa Cecilia) 6-2, the two-doubles team of
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) 6-3, and the three-doubles team of
Carrie Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and
Ana Ornellas (Londrina, Brazil/Colegio Saber) 6-2.
In singles, Denison continued its strong play by taking down the Knights in all six matches in straight sets.
NEXT UP: Calvin women's tennis will return to action on March 9 when it starts its spring break trip to Florida with a match against Covenant College (Ga.).
