MARSHALL, Mich. – The Calvin University women's golf team took sixth place at MIAA Jamboree #2 hosted by The University of Olivet at The Medalist Golf Course on Tuesday.
Calvin finished a low-scoring day across the league with a total of 325 total strokes, which was one stroke behind fifth-place Kalamazoo College (324) and two strokes behind Albion College (323).
Brooke Haney (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) was the top individual finisher for Calvin with a 7-over par 79, which tied for her ninth place on the day.
Gina Sonday (Portland, Mich./Portland) and
Kayla Adkins (Springfield, Ill./Springfield) each carded rounds of 81 to tie for 16th place, with Sonday leading Calvin on the day with three birdies for her round.
Andrea Diemer (Wyoming, Mich./Calvin Christian) and
Ava McConnon (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian) tied for the fourth spot in the Calvin line-up with matching rounds of 84 to tie for 26th place.
Saint Mary's College (Ind.) won the event with a team score of 312, followed by Trine University (316) and Hope College (317) in the top three.
Through two rounds (out of six) of MIAA play this season, Calvin has a scoring average of 326.5 and currently sits in sixth place overall.

Jerry Bergsma said. "The fact is that a number of teams in the MIAA have stepped up their play and we need to keep pushing in practice to keep getting better."
NEXT UP: Calvin women's golf will return to action on Saturday, October 4, when it competes against Hope College in the DAP Cup event at Clearbrook Country Club.
