Calvin University sophomore Abe VanDuinen was named MIAA Athlete of the Week for men's cross country on Monday.
 
VanDuinen (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater) won the honor after his performance at the Diemer Classic hosted by Calvin at Gainey Athletic Complex on Saturday, September 13.
 
At the 8k race, VanDuinen was the first Calvin runner to cross the finish line in 12th place thanks to a time of 26:17.3.
 
With VanDuinen leading the way, Calvin took third place at the meet with 80 total points.
 
Calvin cross country will return to action on Friday, September 19, when it travels to Western Michigan University for the George Dales Invite.
