Five members of the Calvin University softball team were named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communications (CSC) on Tuesday.

Taylor Sanborn (Midland, Mich./Midland),
Aubrey Herder (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian),
Emma Ludema (Martin, Mich./Wayland),
Emily Sweetland (Ann Arbor, Mich./Saline), and
Zoe Hazelhoff (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian) each received the honor for the Knights.Â

In order to qualify for nomination for Academic All-District, student-athletes must meet the following qualifications:
- Sophomore athletically or higher
- 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher
- Been enrolled in the institution for at least one calendar yearÂ
- Starter or key reserve
- Played at least 50 percent of their team's games in the 2025 season
Taylor Sanborn
Sanborn won the CSC Academic All-District honor for the third year in a row after wrapping up her senior season with the Knights. She posted a batting average of .294 while recording 35 hits and 27 RBIs.

The graphic design major has a career GPA of 3.88 and is an eight-time Calvin Dean's List member, a 2022 and 2023 NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete, and a four-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.

Zoe Hazelhoff
Hazelhoff finished off her senior season strong as she earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the third consecutive year. In the circle for the Knights, she pitched 28.2 innings while recording 20 strikeouts and four saves.

Hazelhoff is a nursing major and has posted a career GPA of 3.75. She is also a four-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and a two-time NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete.

Emma Ludema
Ludema earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career after a strong junior year in the circle. She started 19 games for Calvin where she recorded 48 strikeouts and finished with a 2.62 ERA.

Ludema finished year three with a cumulative GPA of 3.77 while majoring in business finance and making multiple appearances on the Calvin Dean's List.

Emily Sweetland
Sophomore second baseman Sweetland earns CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time. She started every game for the Knights and finished the season with a .325 batting average and 41 hits.

The kinesiology major finished her sophomore year with an overall GPA of 3.85 and is a four-time Calvin Dean's List member.

Aubrey Herder
Herder finished her sophomore season by earning CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time after starting every game at shortstop for the Knights this season. She posted a .319 batting average while having 37 hits and 27 runs scored.
Â
Majoring in kinesiology, Herder currently has an overall GPA of 3.86 and has made multiple appearances on the Calvin Dean's List.

The five Calvin honorees helped the Knights to a 22-18 overall record and a 9-7 MIAA record.
