Calvin men's tennis student-athletes
Rodrigo Alipio and
Ryan Broek were both named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
To receive CSC Academic All-District accolades, individuals needed to have maintained a cumulative 3.50 grade point average or higher, completed two full semesters at the institution and appeared in 70 percent of the current season's games contests.
Alipio (Santos, São Paulo, Brazil/COC Universitario) earned the honor after a strong campaign at the top of the Calvin line-up in both singles and doubles. In singles, Alipio finished the season 17-2 in the number one spot, including a 6-1 conference mark. In doubles, he finished 14-6 overall and 6-1 in MIAA play. He was also named All-MIAA First Team following this season.
A sophomore graphic design major with a 3.55 cumulative grade point average (GPA), Alipio is a one-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll and three-time Calvin Dean's List honoree.
Broek (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) went 9-10 in singles this season, playing primarily from the number four spot in the line-up and went 4-2 in conference play. He also played 18 doubles matches and finished with an 11-7 record overall and 5-1 went 5-1 in conference.
A junior mechanical engineering major, Broek is a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll and five-time Calvin Dean's List honoree with a 3.79 cumulative GPA.
Calvin men's tennis finished the 2024-25 season with a 12-9 overall record and went 5-2 in MIAA play, good for third place in the final MIAA standings.
