ALBION, Mich. – The Calvin University women's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 sweep at Albion College on Saturday.
Calvin (13-4, 5-2 MIAA) lost only five total games to Albion (7-9, 1-5 MIAA) in the entire match on the way to the sweep.
The Knights earned the point for doubles with a sweep of the three matches while losing four total games. The number-one team of
Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and
Marina Ribeiro (santos Sal Paolo, Brazil/Santa Cecilia) won 6-0. The number-two team of
Ryan Morey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) and
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) won 6-1, while the number-three team of
Rachel Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) won 6-3.
In singles, the Knights lost only one game in six wins in straight sets. Holman,
Catherine Grissom, Ribeiro, Hooker and Morey each won 6-0, 6-0.
Ana Clara Ornellas (Londrina, Brazil/Colegio Saber) won 6-0, 6-1.
