RESULTS

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Calvin opened competition at the GVSU Al Owens Classic on Friday in two field events.

In the triple jump, sophomore Luke Nguyen (Houston, Texas Carl Wunsche Sr.) was second with a leap of 44-11. Sophomore Conor Johnson (Kingsley, Mich./Kingsley HS) was seventh (39-11 ¼), sophomore Aidan Veltkamp (Lynden, Wash./Lynden Christian HS) was eighth (39-3 ¾) and senior Ethan VanWoerkom (Denver, Colo./Denver Christian HS) ninth (38-2 ¼).

In the pole vault, senior Wil Goodpaster (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton HS) was 12^th (11-10).

Also competing late Friday night at the Wisconsin LaCrosse Phil Esten Challenge was senior Luke Witvliet (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) in the 10,000 meter run. Witvliet turned in a time of 30:29.44 that was good for seventh place. 

Action continues with Saturday morning field events with track finals starting in the afternoon.
