RESULTS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin men's track and field team hosted its own Knight Invitational on Saturday and produced a number of standout performances.
On the track, Calvin opened the meet with a 1-2-4 finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Senior
Eric Swinson (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern HS) won the race in 9:20.84 with junior
Ryan Sarkett (Pittsburgh, Pa. Upper St. Clair) second (9:53.14) and sophomore
Noah Laslo (Oak Brook, Il./Timothy Christian HS) fourth 9:55.57. The time by Sarkett ranks fourth in the MIAA rankings with Laslo's time fifth.

Max Huizinga (Hudsonville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS), senior
Koby VanderWoude (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia HS),
Keendrick Castillo-Perez (Comstock Park, Mich. Comstock Park) and sophomore
Eze Nwachuku took first in a season-best time of 42.72 that ranks third in the MIAA.
Senior
Caleb Schillinger (North Liberty, Iowa Liberty) was third in the 1500 meter run (4:07.50).
Freshman
Rhys Bedford (Delton, MIch. Delton Kellogg) was second in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.46 that ranks fourth in the MIAA. Sophomore
Zach Van Baren (Hudsonville, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) was a close third (15.65).
The Knights flexed their collective muscle in the 400 meter dash with junior
Connor Lubberts (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS) second (50.73), junior
Danny Andringa (Pella, Ia./Pella Christian HS) third (51.64), junior
Ethan Sculley (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian HS) fourth (51.65) and senior
Corbin DeBoer (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) fifth (52.03). Â
In the 100 meter dash, VanderWoude was third (11.22) and Huizinga fourth (11.25).
Senior
Thaine Nederveld (Columbus, Oh./Columbus Alternative School) had a big race in the 800 meters, running a career-best time of 1:54.78 that ranks third in the MIAA standings.
Sophomore
Bob Horton (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS) also ran a career-best time in placing second in the 400 meter hurdles in 55.93. His time is the top time in the MIAA this spring.
In the 2000 meters, VanderWoude took second in 22.09 with his time ranked fourth in the MIAA. Freshman
Benjamin Habers (Lake Ann, Mich. Traverse City West) recorded a season-best time of 22.56 that was good for fourth place.
Junior
Aaron Jahn (Shelby, Twp., Mich. Utica High School) took second in the 5,000 meters (16:01.18).
Freshman
Simon Vandenbroek (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) was big highlight for the Knights, taking second in the high jump with a collegiate-best leap of 6-6 ¼ that has him ranked number one on the MIAA performance list.
Calvin went 1-3 in the long jump with sophomore
Luke Nguyen (Houston, Texas Carl Wunsche Sr.) winning the competition with a leap of 21-10 while Van Baren was third (19-11 ¾).
Calvin had a big day in the triple jump. Sophomore Aiden Veltkamp (Lyden, Wash./Lynden Christian HS) was second (40-7 ½), freshman
Carter Dimsdale (Fort Worth, Texas Southwest Christian) was third (40-6) while senior
Ethan VanWoerkom (Denver, Colo. Denver Christian) was fourth (39-11 ½). The jump by Veltkamp ranks fifth in the MIAA. The jump by Dimsdale was a career-best and ranks seventh in the MIAA. The jump by VanWoerkom was a career-best and ranks ninth in the MIAA.
Senior
Wil Goodpaster (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton HS) was seventh in the pole vault (12-3 ¾).
Freshman
Carson Arnould (Hudsonville, Mich./Zeeland West HS) had a collegiate-best throw of 141-6 that was good for fourth place in the discus. His throw ranks fifth in the MIAA.
In the javelin, junior
Colin Jambekar (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. Grosse Pointe North) was fourth with a career-best throw of 156-10 that ranks fifth in the MIAA. Sophomore
Jarrett Febus (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) had a career-best throw of 141-5 that ranks 11
th in the MIAA.
Freshman
Caleb Bachew (Benbrook, Texas Homeschool) was sixth (135-2), freshman Lukas Jambekar (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. Grosse Pointe North) seventh (133-3) and freshman
Nolan Boyer (Crawfordville, Ind. Southmont) eighth (126-1).
