Four members of the Calvin women's swimming and diving team have received College Sports Communicators Division III Academic All-District honors. Named to the CSC Academic All-District team from Calvin are senior

Meghan Bengelink and
Kristin Winkle and sophomore
Emma Merkel.
In order to receive CSC Academic All-District honors, athletes must be at least sophomore status or above academically, have maintained a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.50 or above and finished in the top eight of an individual event at their respective conference championship meet. In addition, Sonday and Merkel have advanced to the national ballot by selection of the Academic All-America committee and are now eligible for CSC Academic All-America consideration.Â
SYDNEY SONDAY (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS)
Sonday is receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time. Sonday was a member of the 2023-24 MIAA Academic Honor Roll and has been a multiple-time member of the Calvin Dean's List. She holds a double major in biochemistry and computer science. At the MIAA Championships in February, she placed sixth in the 100 butterfly, fifth in the 100 freestyle and fifth in the 50 freestyle. She was later named to the All-MIAA Team for a fourth straight season. Also a four-time national qualifier, she has earned Division III All-America honors nine times in her collegiate career. At the NCAA III Championships last month, she earned First Team All-America honors in the 200 medley relay (7
th) and 200 freestyle relay (8
th) and Second Team All-America accolades in the 400 medley relay (10
th place) and 400 freestyle relay (10
th place).
MEGHAN BENGELINK (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS)
Bengelink is receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time. Bengelink was a member of the 2023-24 MIAA Academic Honor Roll and has also been a multiple-time member of the Calvin Dean's List. She is a nursing major. At the MIAA Championships in February, she placed sixth in the 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle. She has made three straight trips to the NCAA III Championships. She has earned All-America honors four times in the relay events during her career. At the 2025 NCAA III Championships she earned First Team All-America honors as a member of Calvin's eighth place 200 freestyle relay and Second Team All-America honors as a member of Calvin's 10
th place 400 freestyle relay.
KRISTIN WINKLE (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS)
Winkle is receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time. She was a member of the 2023-24 MIAA Academic Honor Roll. She has also been a member of the Calvin Dean's List. She is a biochemistry major. At the MIAA Championships in February, she was eighth in the 1650 freestyle.
EMMA MERKEL (Wyoming, Mich./Grandville HS)
Merkel is receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time. She was a member of the 2023-24 MIAA Academic Honor Roll and is a three-time member of the Calvin Dean's List. Merkel is a nursing major. At the MIAA Championships in February, she took second in the 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke. She was named to the All-MIAA Team for the second straight season and earned MIAA Swimmer of the Week honors once. She is a two-time national qualifier and has earned Division III All-America accolades seven times in the relay events. She was a part of all four of Calvin's All-America relay teams at the 2025 NCAA III Championships, earning First Team All-America accolades in the 200 freestyle relay (8
th place) and 200 medley relay (7
th place) as well as Second Team All-America honors in the 400 medley relay (10
th place) and 400Â freestyle relay (10
