Calvin head women's basketball coach
Mark Christner will be the guest of the D3hoops.com "Hoopsville" program this evening beginning at 6 p.m. The twice-weekly show airs interviews, news and updates from around the world of NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Basketball. Sunday night's show will be hosted by D3hoops.com's Pat Coleman.
Christner has led the Calvin women's basketball team to its first NCAA III Tournament berth since 2017. The Knights punched their ticket to the national tournament this past weekend by winning the MIAA Tournament title, knocking off No. 19 Hope in the semifinals and No. 11 Trine in the championship game. The MIAA Tournament title was Calvin's first since 2015.
At 18-10, Calvin will carry a six-game win streak into NCAA III Tournament play. Christner is in his sixth season at the helm of the Knights. He has led Calvin to a 98-48 record as Calvin head women's basketball coach. A 1999 Calvin University graduate, he previously served as head men's basketball coach at Waynesburg University for nine years. He also spent eight years as an assistant men's basketball coach at Calvin University and a three-year stretch at Calvin as an assistant women's basketball coach.
