ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Calvin University women's tennis took home a 6-1 win over Carthage College at Sanlando Park on Friday.
Calvin (7-1) finished its spring break trip to Florida 4-0 with the win and have now won seven straight dating back since September.
The Knights started the match with a sweep of all three doubles matches to secure one point. The number-one team of
Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and
Marina Ribeiro (santos Sal Paolo, Brazil/Santa Cecilia) won 6-2.
Ryan Morey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) and
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) won in two-doubles 6-3. The three-doubles team of
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and
Rachel Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) won 7-5.
Carthage (7-4) won the number-one singles match, but the Knights took home straight sets wins in the other five.
Ana Clara Ornellas (Londrina, Brazil/Colegio Saber) (6-2, 6-2),
Catherine Grissom (6-3, 6-2), Ribeiro (6-0, 6-3), Hooker (6-4, 7-6) and Morey (7-5, 6-1) each recorded singles wins for the Knights.
