LAKELAND, Fla. – The Calvin University men's tennis team moved to 2-0 on its spring break trip to Florida with a 6-1 win over Central College at Beerman Family Tennis Center on Tuesday.
The match started with the Knights winning all three doubles matches to secure the one point.
Rodrigo Alipio (Santos, São Paulo, Brazil/COC Universitario) and
Mário Neto (Boa Vista, Brazil/Reino) won in number-one doubles 6-4.
Ryan Broek (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) and
Felipe Sartori (Estr. Basiléia/Colégio Giusto Zonzini) won 6-4 in number-two doubles.
Tanner Warners (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) and
Corwin Kim (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) won 6-0 in number-three doubles.
The Knights also won five of the six singles matches. Alipio (6-0, 6-0),
Caleb Bartels (Belton, Mo./Kansas City Christan) (6-1, 6-1), Broek (6-0, 6-4) and Neto (6-3, 6-1) each won in straight sets.
Emmanuel Henao (Medellin, Columbia/Escuela Normal Superior "La Merced") won his number-six singles match in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6).
NEXT UP: Calvin tennis will return to action on Thursday, March 13, when it plays Wheaton College at 2:30 PM at the USTA National Campus.
