LAKELAND, Fla. – The Calvin University women's tennis team swept Central College 7-0 to improve to 2-0 on its spring break trip to Florida.
Calvin (5-1) opened the match with a sweep of three matches in doubles to earn one points. The number-one team of
Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and
Marina Ribeiro (santos Sal Paolo, Brazil/Santa Cecilia) won 6-1.
Ryan Morey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) and
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) won 6-4 in the number-two match.
Rachel Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) won 6-3 in the number-three match.
Catherine Grissom (6-2, 6-2), Ribeiro (6-2, 6-1), Hooker (6-1, 6-2), Morey (6-4, 6-2),
Elise Norman (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) (7-5, 6-2) and
Sabrina Lopez (Thornton, Ill./Illiana Christian) (6-2, 7-6) each won their singles matches in straight sets.
