GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin University women's tennis team swept Indiana University Kokomo 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.
 
Calvin (3-1) jumped in front with a strong doubles performances, taking all three doubles matches over IU-Kokomo (4-5) to secure the one doubles point.
 
The number-one team of 
Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and 
Marina Ribeiro (santos Sal Paolo, Brazil/Santa Cecilia) won 6-3. The number-two team of 
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) and 
Ryan Morey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) won 6-2, and the three team of 
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and 
Rachel Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) also won 6-2.
 
The Knights back up their doubles wins by sweeping the six singles matches in straight sets.
 
Holman (6-0, 6-2), 
Catherine Grissom (7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-2)), Ribeiro (6-0, 6-0), Hooker (7-5, 6-1), Morey (6-0, 6-0) and 
Elise Norman (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) (6-1, 6-0) took home the six singles victory for Calvin to help them improve to 3-1 on the season.  
 
COACH'S COMMENT: "The team came with an extremely positive attitude," Calvin co-interim head tennis coach 
Angie Goorhouse said. "They stayed positive through all their matches and came to win and got the result we were looking for."
