ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Calvin women's indoor track and field team had a record-breaking Friday at the Grand Valley State Holiday Open. Graduate student
Sydney Radigan (Portland, Ore./St. Stephen's Academy) shattered her own school indoor records in both the 60 meter and 200 meter dash events.
Radigan opened the day by lowering her 60 meter dash mark with a time of 7.67 in the prelims, breaking her previous mark of 7.78. In the championship finals, she cranked out a time of 7.61 that was good for third place in a field filled with Division I, II and NAIA competitors. The time is the also the second-fastest time in Division III women's indoor track and field this season. She followed with an electrifying 200 meter dash performance, winning the race in a school-record time of 24.13, breaking her previous record of 25.06. Her time is the top mark in Division III this season and stands as the four-fastest indoor 200 meter time in NCAA III women's track and field history.
Senior
Mia DeJonge (Bellevue, Wash./Bellevue Christian HS) had a standout day, taking sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a career-best time of 9.01 that ranks fifth on the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field performance list. She also placed 34
th in the 200 meters with a career-best time of 26.47.
Freshman
Alison Bailey (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey HS) was 20
th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.85 that ranks seventh on the NCAA list. Sophomore
Jessica Bossenbroek (Holt, Mich./Holt HS) was 32
nd in 26.33. Her time ranks 18
th on the NCAA performance list.
Senior
Sophie Bull (Denver, Co./Denver Christian HS) had a big night, taking second in the 5,000 meter run in a time of 16:48.88 less than two weeks after her All-America fifth place finish at the NCAA III Cross Country Championships. Bull made a bid for the win in her 5K race, moving from fifth up to first over the final five laps. She was edged at the wire by Claire Anderson of Washington and Jefferson who clocked in at 16:48.20. The times by Anderson and Bull rank 1-2 on the current NCAA III performance list.
Calvin had several strong performances in the 400 meters. Freshman
Abby Lambers (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) led the way by placing 26
th in 1:00.61. Sophomore
Emerson Nordbeck(Livonia, MI/Franklin) was 31
st (1:01.62), freshman
Jillian Tunnicliff (St. Joseph, MI/St. Joseph) 32
nd (1:01.67) and freshman
Lola Davey (Cedar Springs, MI/Rockford) 37
th (1:01.94).
The Calvin 4x400 meter relay team of Tunnifcliff, Nordbeck, Bailey and Bossenbroek took 10
th in a strong season-opening time of 4:06.17.
In the field events, Calvin had a fine day in the jumps. Freshman
Dasha Mason (Graham, WA/Graham Kapowsin) led the way, placing fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 37-8 ½ that ranks fourth nationally. Senior
Julienne Strydom (Meyerton, South Africa) was fifth (35-7 ¾) with a jump that ranks eighth nationally. Sophomore
Alina Veltkamp (Lynden, Wash./Lynden Christian HS) was sixth (35-4 ½) with her mark ranking 11
th nationally. Sophomore
Emma Tubergen (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) was 10
th with a jump of 33-6 ½. In the long jump, Tubergen had a career-best mark of 16-0 ¼ to place 21
st. Sophomore
Ella Easterling (Norton, OH/Norton) was 24
th in 15-10 ¼ and senior

th in 14-7 ¼.
Freshman
Natalie Hensel (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield HS) was 16
th in the high jump (5-0 ¼) with senior
Katie Seinen (Jenison, Mich./Unity Christian HS) taking 13
th in the pole vault (10-2 ¾).
Calvin had a good day in the throws. Sophomore
Lily Burns was 18
th in the weight throw with a personal-best heave of 44-6 while senior
Mikah Bazuin (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center HS) was 21
st (43-2 ½). Easterling was 16
th in the shot put (34-11) while Burns was 20
th (32-0 ¾).
