Four Calvin Women’s Volleyball Players Named CSC Academic All-District

Four members of the Calvin University women's volleyball team were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District on Tuesday.
 
Seniors Aerin Baker and Emma Ekblaw, as well as juniors Tryna Vander Zwaag and Mary Boa, each received the honor.
 
To receive CSC Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative 3.5 or better grade point average (GPA), complete two full semesters at their institution, and appear in either 90 percent of the current season's games or started in 66 percent of the contests that season.

Baker and Ekblaw both advanced to the national ballot for consideration for CSC Academic All-America honors, which will be announced at a later date.
 
Calvin finished the 2025 season ranked eighth in the AVCA after reaching the NCAA III Tournament quarterfinals. The Knights closed the season with a record of 28-4 and won the MIAA Volleyball Tournament.
 
Aerin Baker
 
Baker (Saugatuck, Mich./Saugatuck) won CSC Academic All-District honors for the third straight season after averaging a team-best 3.49 kills per set. Baker finished her Calvin career with three straight All-MIAA First Team, AVCA All-Great Lakes Region, and AVCA Honorable Mention All-America honors. She recorded 1,093 career kills to go with 558 career digs.
 
In the classroom, Baker is a chemistry major with a 3.98 career GPA. She is a six-time Calvin Dean's List and three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
 
Emma Ekblaw
 
Ekblaw (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) earned her second CSC Academic All-District honor this year to go with her All-MIAA First Team and AVCA First Team All-Great Lakes Region honors. She was also an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American. This season, she averaged 2.16 kills and 1.15 blocks per set while finishing with a .327 attack efficiency, and finished her career with 704 kills and 283 blocks. She was also named the NCAA III Regional Tournament MVP after helping the Knights win the Illinois Wesleyan University regional.
 
Ekblaw is a speech pathology and audiology major with a 3.56 career GPA. She is also a five-time Calvin Dean's List and three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
 
Mary Boa
 
Boa (Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood International Charter) won her first CSC Academic All-District honor after a breakout junior campaign. In her first season as a starter at middle blocker, Boa led the Knights with an average of 1.24 blocks per set while also recording 1.1 kills per set on a .236 attack efficiency. Boa's 1.24 blocks per set ranked 13th in NCAA III this season.
 
Boa is a speech pathology and audiology major with a 3.54 career GPA. She is also a four-time Calvin Dean's List and two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
 
Tryna Vander Zwaag
 
Vander Zwaag (Hamilton, Mich./Holland Christian) earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the second straight season. In her first full season as the Knights' libero, Vander Zwaag averaged a team-best 3.87 digs per set to go with 1.14 assists per set. Vander Zwaag also took home MIAA Defensive Player of the Year honors to go with All-MIAA Second Team recognition.
 
Vander Zwaag is an elementary education major with a 3.87 career GPA. She is also a four-time Calvin Dean's List and two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
