Calvin’s Aerin Baker Named CSC Academic All-American

Calvin University senior women's volleyball player Aerin Baker was named a Second Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.

Baker (Saugatuck, Mich./Saugatuck) earned the honor for the first time to cap a stellar four-year career for the Knights in which she accrued 1,093 career kills. In the last three seasons, Baker was named All-MIAA First Team three times, American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region First Team three times, and CSC Academic All-District three times.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative 3.5 or better grade point average (GPA), complete two full semesters at their institution, and appear in either 90 percent of the current season's games or started in 66 percent of the contests that season.

On the court, Baker this season led Calvin with 3.49 kills per set and finished with 352 total kills. She also finished her career with 588 career digs and 183 blocks.

Led by Baker on the attack, the Knights finished the 2025 season ranked eighth in the final AVCA III Top 25 Poll following a 28-4 campaign. Calvin won the MIAA Tournament championship at the end of the regular season, and followed by winning the Illinois Wesleyan University NCAA III Regional by defeating number-two Illinois Wesleyan in the Regional Final before falling in the Elite Eight to eventual National Champion UW-Oshkosh.

In the classroom, Baker is a chemistry major with a 3.98 career GPA. She is a six-time Calvin Dean's List and three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.

Baker is the 18th Calvin women's volleyball player to earn CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America honors and the first since Heidi Westra in 2022. She is the second Calvin student-athlete in the 2025-26 academic year to earn CSC Academic All-America honors and gives Calvin 168 total CSC Academic All-Americans in the history of the award, which ranks ninth among all NCAA III schools.
