The Calvin-Hope women's volleyball rivalry is set to renew on Tuesday night when the two rivals meet at 6:30 p.m. at Van Noord Arena in an MIAA conference match.
The contest will be the first of two regular season matches between the two rivals with Calvin set to return to Hope on October 25 for a non-conference match in Holland, Michigan.Â

Tuesday's contest will mark the MIAA opener for both teams. Hope is currently ranked fourth nationally while Calvin is ranked 18
th.
The Knights enter the MIAA opener after a defeat at University of Chicago in three sets on Wednesday, September 25. Calvin is led on the attack by
Aerin Baker with 3.21 kills per set and a .241 attack efficiency. Middle blocker
Vanessa Martinez is off to another strong start and ranks fourth in the nation in total blocks (64) and fifth in blocks per set (1.33).

The Flying Dutch are off to an 11-2 start to the season and enter tonight's match coming off a 3-0 week with wins over UW-Whitewater (3-1), Transylvania (3-0) and North Park (3-0). Hope is led on the attack by Addie VanderWeide, who averages 3.60 kills per set, and Annie Lockett, who averages 3.02 kills per set.
Calvin is led by head coach
Amber Warners who is in her 23rd season as head Calvin volleyball coach and has a record of 667-111 over her career. She also serves as Associate Athletics Director at Calvin and is a professor of kinesiology. Â During her first 22 seasons at Calvin, the Knights won three NCAA Division III National Championships (2010, 2013 and 2016) and recorded 13 seasons with at least 30 wins. Warners entered this season with a career winning percentage of .859, which ranked second-best among all active NCAA Division III head coaches.
Hope is coached by Becky Schmidt, who has led the Flying Dutch for the last 21 seasons. During her tenure at Hope, Schmidt has a record of 520-132 that includes a national championship in 2014 and 15 appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. A year ago she led Hope to the NCAA III Championship final. Schmidt is also a former standout middle blocker at Hope as a player. She was named a Division III All-American as a senior.
