ALBION, Mich. – The Calvin University women's tennis team continued its strong season with a 9-0 sweep at Albion College on Tuesday.
Calvin (15-2, 5-1 MIAA) was in control from the start with a 3-0 sweep in doubles. The number-three team of
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and
Elise Norman (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) won 8-0, followed by an 8-1 win by the number-one team of
Marina Ribeiro (Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazi) and
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids). The number-two team of
Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and
Rachel Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) won 8-4.
In singles, the Knights won all six matches in straight sets to secure the 9-0 sweep.
Holman,
Maggie Shoemaker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian),
Averi Lewis (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) and
Delanie Minnema (East Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe) each won their matches 6-0, 6-0.
Ribeiro (6-0, 6-1) and
Catherine Grissom (6-3, 6-1) took home wins in the other two matches.
