Calvin Men's Volleyball Drops Match Against Mount Union

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Today the Calvin men's volleyball team took on the Purple Raider of Mount Union where they fell in three sets with scores of 14-25, 21-25 and 18-25.

The Knights (4-17, 1-4 MCVL) hit .194 on the night with their best performance coming in the second set when they hit .267.

Senior Gabriel Laughlin (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Michigan Aviation Academy) led the attack for the Knights with eight kills while freshman Brady Gudauskas (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was close behind with seven kills. Arie Padmos (Martinez, Calif./Contra Costa Christian) contributed five kills and eight digs with Parker Steele (Boscobel, Wis./Boscal) and Gudauskas each recording six digs.

Freshman Sven Grimbergen (Bend, Or./Cascades Academy) got in on the scoring action with four kills while fellow freshmen Nick Bultje (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian) and Wyatt Burch (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian) each had three kills.

Freshman setter Cameron Dogger (Holland, Mich./Zion Christian) had 22 assists and five digs.

COACHES COMMENT: "We have to give them credit I think Mount Union had a really good passing day," said head coach Spencer Fredricks. "They executed really well. I think it was an overall good performance today from us and we had some guys come off the bench who played well. They did not make excuses and just went into the game and made some great contributions so that was definitely good to see."

UP NEXT: The Knights will be back in action on Friday, March 29th when they welcome the Bulldogs of Adrian to Van Noord Arena. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
