ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Calvin closed outs its weekend conference slate with a four-set loss at Fontbonne University Saturday afternoon. The Knights fell by scores of 25-12, 18-25, 25-18, 25-18.
Calvin (4-14 overall, 1-1 MCVL) hit .345 in its set two win but hit below .100 in the three remaining sets it dropped.
Freshman
Brady Gudauskas (Naperville., Il./Neuqua Valley HS) led the Calvin attack with 10 kills while junior
Arie Padmos (Martinez, CA Contra Costa Christian High School) had nine kills.
Freshman
Nick Bultje (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian HS) had six kills and two blocks. Graduate student
Jonathan Pheifer (Lakewood,CA Valley Christian High School) had six kills and four digs.
Sophomore
Parker Steele (Boscobel, WI Boscal High School) contributed a team-high eight dig while Padmos had seven digs.
Freshman setter
Cameron Dogger (Holland, MI Zion Christian High School) had 29 assists and seven digs.
COACHES COMMENT: "We had great fight from the guys today," said Calvin head coach
Spencer Fredrick. "We came up a little short but we are gaining valuable experience on what it takes to compete in conference and play on back-to-back days. We are looking forward to getting back to work and preparing for our next match."
