GREENTOWN, Ind. - The Calvin University women's tennis team finished strong in singles play to secure a 4-3 road win at IU Kokomo on Friday afternoon.
The match started slow for the Knights, as IU Kokomo (1-4) won two of the three doubles contests to take an early 1-0 lead, but Calvin (4-0) roared back to take four of six in singles to secure the win.

Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) won the number-one doubles match 7-6 (7-5) with a tie-breaker, but the Cougars were able to win the other two matches 6-4 and 6-4 to take the overall 1-0 lead.
Needing four wins in singles, the Knights came up with three points as
Averi Lewis (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) (7-5, 6-0),
Rachel Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) (6-1, 7-6 (7-4)) and Hooker (6-2, 6-4) each won in straight sets.
Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) came through with the fourth point in number-two singles with a three-set tie-breaker to win 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-5) to help secure the team win.
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) battled in a three-set defeat in number-one singles by the final of 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 and 1-0 (10-3).
Delanie Minnema (East Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe) fell in two sets in number-four singles by the scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Â
