The Calvin men's volleyball team is set to host its inaugural home match of its inaugural 2024 season Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against Siena Heights University in Van Noord Arena.
Admission to Friday's inaugural home match inside Calvin's 4,800 set Van Noord Arena will be free.
Commemorative T-shirts to the first 100 spectators will be given out along with other prizes that will be part of games for fans in between sets. Commemorative give-away posters will also be given out.
Calvin president Dr. Wiebe Boer will present the honorary game ball prior to the first serve of the match. In addition, a special national anthem performance is planned.
"Our team is extremely excited to play in front of our home fans Friday night," said Calvin first-year head coach
Spencer Fredrick. "I know Calvin fans love volleyball and our goal is to give the best effort that we possibly can for them. Van Noord Arena provides a special atmosphere and Friday will be a special night for our team and our fans."
Fredrick's Calvin men's volleyball team is currently 0-4 on the young season but has been in the thick of all four matches which includes a pair of five-set losses in the opening two weekends. The Knights will face a seasoned Siena Heights team that is 0-1 on the season after dropping a match at Georgetown University of Kentucky last weekend.
Friday's home match will be part of a three-match homestand for the Knights as they host Aquinas next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and Concordia University of Chicago on February 9 at 5 p.m. with all three matches scheduled to be played in Van Noord Arena. Â
