Calvin University athletics has hired
Jacob Graham as Assistant Head Coach of Track & Field, as well as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Â
Graham comes to Calvin after working as an assistant coach for both track and field and cross country at Willamette University (2021-23), which followed his time as an assistant coach for track and field at George Fox University (2017-21). During his time at George Fox, Graham worked with Calvin head track and field coach
Adam Haldorson.
Â
"Jacob is a huge add to the Calvin Track & Field community," Haldorson said. "He is a man of faith and fits perfectly with our mission, vision and values in addition to having a great coaching resume. Jacob will help us take the next big step as a program and we are all extremely excited to have him be a part of the Calvin Track & Field Family!"
Â
As an assistant, Graham coached one national qualifier and six All-NWC individual athletes in his two seasons at Willamette. At George Fox, Graham helped lead the program to one NCAA Division III national championship and three top-three national finishes. He also worked with two individual national champions, 19 All-Americans and 26 NWC champions with the program.
Â
While he was coaching at George Fox, Graham also served as the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at C.S. Lewis Academy, helping the high school to some of its highest ever team finishes while also growing the roster in size significantly.
Â
Graham was a two-sport at athlete at George Fox, where he participated in both basketball and track and field. In track, Graham competed in the 400 meter hurdles, triple jump and long sprinting events.
Â
A 2017 graduate from George Fox with a degree in Mathematics and History, Graham was also a member of the Oregon Air National Guard, serving part time from 2011-17.
Â
"I am thrilled to join Calvin University and its prestigious track and field program," Graham said. "Calvin has maintained an extraordinary level of excellence throughout the program's history. I am excited to be reunited with coach Haldorson with the goal of continuing this tradition of excellence.
Â
"Calvin, as both a school and a program, perfectly matches my core values of education, culture and faith. That allowed me to feel strongly enough about Calvin to leave my Oregon home of over 30 years. I am looking forward to building a community and Grand Rapids and can't wait to get started."
