Calvin University softball players Hannah Biddlecome, Carly Dole and Sydney Duong were named All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Friday.

Biddlecome (Dallas, Texas/Portage Northern) was named All-Region First Team as an outfielder. Dole (Mt. Pleasant, Mich./Mt. Pleasant) was named to the Second Team at third base, while Duong (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian) was named Third Team All-Region as a shortstop.

This marks the fourth NFCA All-Region honor for Biddlecome in the outfield. She previously was named to the First Team in 2019, followed by a pair of Third Team honors in 2021 and 2022.

The award comes on the heels of a stellar graduate season for Biddlecome, who was named MIAA Position Player of the Year and All-MIAA First Team after hitting .477 with 61 hits, 44 runs, six triples, six doubles and 22 stolen bases on the season. 

Biddlecome also set new Calvin career records for hits (240), runs (156), stolen bases (90) and triples (14) this season.

Dole made an instant impact during her freshman season at third base, winning All-Region honors after leading the Knights in home runs (eight), runs batted in (47) and triples (nine). 

Dole's nine triples set a new Calvin single-season record and helped her to a .338 batting average and .684 slugging percentage on the season. She previously was named All-MIAA Second Team following the season. 

Duong earned her second career All-Region honor from the NFCA. The senior shortstop was previously named Second Team All-Region in 2022. 

Duong was among the top power hitters in the MIAA as a senior, batting .381 with seven home runs, seven triples and 11 doubles on the way to a team-best .694 slugging percentage while also stealing 13 bases in 15 chances. In the field, the steady senior finished with a .924 fielding percentage on 158 chances. 

"Having three all region selections is a tremendous honor for our program, Calvin head softball coach Becky Hilgert said. "Hannah had a stellar season both offensively and defensively, including being named MVP of the conference. Carly and Sydney did an outstanding job as partners on the left side of the infield, and both were key in our offensive production. Individual awards always mean our team is doing well, and it's great for our program that these players have been recognized for their outstanding seasons."

With the help of the three All-Region honorees, Calvin finished the 2023 season with a 29-11 record overall and took second place in the MIAA with a 13-3 conference record.
