Calvin University senior baseball player
Carson Warners was named to the Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
In order to qualify for nomination for Academic All-District, student-athletes must meet the following qualifications:
- Sophomore athletically or higher
- 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher
- Been enrolled at the institution for at least one calendar year
- Starter or key reserve
- Played at least 50 percent of their team's games in the 2022 season.
Warners (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) earned the honor after a strong senior campaign in which he hit .336 in 34 starts in center field. Along with his strong batting average, Warners tied for third on the team with 35 runs scored and stole eight bases in 10 attempts.
A Chemical Engineering/Chemistry double major, Warners posted a cumulative GPA of 3.54. He is also a two-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and a five-time member of the Calvin Dean's List.
With Warners helping lead the charge for a young Calvin team, the Knights finished the 2023 season with a record of 19-20 overall and 10-11 in MIAA play.Â
