ORLANDO, Fla. - The Calvin women's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 6-3 defeat of Saint Mary's (Mm.).
Calvin secured an early lead after winning two out of the three doubles matches.
Senior 
Emily Schellenboom (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) and sophomore 
Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central HS) captured an 8-2 victory in No. 1 doubles. Freshman 
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich/Romeo HS) and Sophomore 
Maggie Shoemaker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) fell short with a score of 8-4 in No. 2 doubles.
Senior 
Alexis Ganop (Riverview, Mich./Riverview Community HS) and 
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids HS) secured the second doubles point with an 8-2 triumph.
The Knights did not look back. They won four out of the six singles matches to secure their 6-3 victory. Holman secured a two set 6-4, 6-3 victory over Maddie Dosser in No. 1 singles. Grissom convincingly won 6-1, 6-1 over Emily Henderson in No. 4 singles.
Ganop battled her way to a 6- 4, 6-4 victory over Peyton Buerman. Sophomore 
Marissa Baker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) secured the sixth point for the Knights with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 victory over Kara Hand.
