Calvin-Hope Men's Basketball Rivalry Set to Tip Off Wednesday Night

The 108th meeting between Calvin and Hope in men's basketball is set to tip off Wednesday night at Hope's DeVos Fieldhouse at 8 p.m.

Ranked 24th nationally, Calvin will enter the game with an overall record of 10-3 and a 2-0 league mark. Hope comes in at 7-6 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Hope leads the all-time series 107-100 and has won the last four meetings. Over the 207 game series, Hope has outscored Calvin by an average of less than 0.5 points a game.

The game will be video streamed through the Hope website and will be called by local radio broadcast personalities Bret Bakita and Drew Neitzel of 96.1 ESPN FM.

Bakita is the long-time voice of high school basketball in the West Michigan area while Neitzel, a former Michigan State men's basketball standout, has joined him over the last several years as his color commentator. Bakita and Neitzel are calling all four regular season games of the Calvin/Hope basketball Rivalry Series which includes two women's games and two men's games. They are serving as the lead broadcasters for the host school's video stream and will interview the winning coach and players at the conclusion of each game. Their initial broadcast in The Rivalry Series took place on November 30, when they called the Hope at Calvin women's basketball game at Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids.

The Calvin/Hope women's basketball series will renew on February 8 at Hope at 7:30 p.m. with the second meeting of the men's series scheduled for February 15 at Calvin at 7:30 p.m. in Grand Rapids.
