HOLLAND, Mich. - The Calvin volleyball team won both its matches on the second and final day of the Hope Tournament on Saturday.
Calvin (8-2) opened the day with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-21) win over Clarkson (3-7).
The Knights were in control from of the start of the match, dominating the first two sets and then holding off one final Clarkson rally at the end of the third game to earn the sweep.
Calvin hit .314 on the attack in the match while holding Clarkson to .034 in its attempts on offense.Â
Heidi Westra (Clarenton Hills, Ill./Timothy Christian) led the way for Calvin with 15 kills, while
Alyssa DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) led all players with 33 assists to go with seven digs.
The second match was more of the same for the Knights, as they swept Elmhurst (3-5) 3-0 by the scores of 25-21, 25-17, 25-16.
The Blue Jays were game to open the match and pushed the Knights in the opening set, but after taking that set 25-21 Calvin was able to stay in control the rest of the way.
Tori Roskamp (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) was the Knights' top hitter with 10 kills and an attack efficiency of .588. Roskamp also came up big as the first line of defense with six blocks.
Aubrey Wrubel (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) led all players in the match with 19 digs.
NEXT UP: Calvin volleyball will return to action on Wednesday, September 21, when it travels to University of Chicago for a match scheduled to begin at 6 PM.
