Box Score GEORGETOWN, Tx. – Calvin suffered its first defeat of the year, falling 18-6 at Southwestern University Saturday afternoon.
Calvin dips to 4-1 on the season with the loss.
Southwestern (4-1) jumped on Calvin early, leading 6-1 after the first quarter and leading 8-3 at halftime.
The host Pirates outscored Calvin 5-0 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Senior Nick Dueweke (Clarkston, Mich./Notre Dame Prep) had two of Calvin's six goals. He also had two assists on the afternoon.
Calvin received single goals from freshmen Jacob Bledsoe (Mission Viejo, Ca./J. Serra Catholic HS), Chuck McKenney (Mission Viejo, Ca./Trabuco Hills HS), Cole McKenney (Mission Viejo, Ca./Trabuco Hills HS) and Josh Moyer (Laurys Station, PA./Allentown Central Catholic).
Senior Chase Sparling (Novi, Mich./Novi HS) picked up eight ground balls for the Knights and won nine faceoff opportunities.
Senior Evan Griffin (Howell, Mich./Hartland HS) had 11 saves in goal for the Knights.
