ANGOLA, Ind. - The Calvin volleyball team continued its strong run to start conference play with a 3-0 win at Trine by the scores of 25-10, 25-13 and 25-14.
The Knights were in control from start to finish, building big leads early in each set and never letting up en route to the win.
Calvin hit .333 on the attack for the match, including a .364 effort in the first set to take a 1-0 lead.
The defense was as strong as the offense for the Knights throughout the match as they held the Thunder to a negative attack efficiency in each set and a -.060 mark overall.
Gabriella Kellogg (Belleville, Mich./Plymouth Christian Academy) led all players with 11 kills and hit .556 on the attack.
Maria Bos (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) finished with nine kills, while
Heidi Westra (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Timothy Christian) added seven kills and four service aces.
Alyssa DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) recorded 30 assists, while
Aubrey Wrubel (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) added 12 digs.Â
Calvin improved to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in MIAA play with the win. Trine fell to 8-8 on the season and 1-3 in league play in defeat.
