KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Calvin volleyball team clinched the outright MIAA regular season championship with a dominant 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-11) win at Kalamazoo on Saturday.
The Knights clinched at least a share of the title and the top seed in the MIAA Tournament with Thursday's win over Albion, but needed Saturday's win to secure its spot alone at the top of the league standings.Â
Calvin, showin no signs of a letdown performance after Thursday's emotional win, was in control from start to finish as it built double-digit leads in all three sets while 13 different players saw action in the win.
The Knights hit .313 on the attack for the match and hit .267 or better in each of the three sets.Â
Playing without leading hitter
Heidi Westra (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Timothy Christian), the Knights showed off their depth as
Maria Bos (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian),
Tori Roskamp (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) and
Gabriella Kellogg (Belleville, Mich./Plymouth Christian Academy) each finished with 11 kills to lead the team.
Setter
Alyssa DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) recorded 31 assists, while
Aubrey Wrubel (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) led the team with 13 digs.Â
Calvin, ranked third in the nation coming into the match, finished the regular season with a record of 23-3 overall and a perfect 8-0 in MIAA play following the win. Kalamazoo dropped to 8-14 on the season and 3-5 in conference play in defeat.

NEXT UP: Calvin volleyball will return to action on Friday, November 4, when it hosts the semi-finals of the MIAAÂ Volleyball Tournament. The Knights will find out who their opponent will be following first round of the tournament on Tuesday, November 1.
