Calvin picked up an insurance run in the sixth on an RBI double by sophomore Sidney Duong (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian HS).

Stanilius went 3-for-3 at the plate while Groen and freshman Grace Glass (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central HS) had two hits apiece. Senior Grace Stock (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg HS) also had a double and a run scored.

Senior Bri Leegwater (Zeeland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) allowed only one run over five innings to pick up her third victory of the season. Senior Ellie Borst (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) came on to toss two innings of shutout relief.

GAME TWO
Calvin 6, Albion 0

Calvin scored three in the first and three in the sixth to pick up the shutout win. Junior Addi Warner (South Bend, Ind./Clay HS) had three doubles and four runs batted in. Senior Hannah Horvath (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia HS), Stock and sophomore Brooke Timm (Niles, Mich./Niles HS) all had two hits apiece.

Sophomore Kirsten Krause (Fredonia, Wisc./Grafton HS) tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout, striking out six and walking only one.

COACHES COMMENT: "It was a total team effort today," said Calvin head softball coach Becky Hilgert. "I am really happy how we came out and scored early in both games. Defensively we played error free in both games which is something we have talked about as a key to success. Our pitching staff was efficient and did a great job keeping the opposing hitters off balance. It has been a busy week with 10 games in eight days but we are excited to get back on the field and get better on Monday."

NEXT UP: Calvin will travel to Alma next Wednesday for a conference doubleheader slated to start at 3 p.m. at Scots Park.
