Box Score 1 ANGOLA, IN – The nationally-ranked Trine University softball team flexed its muscle in taking both ends of a doubleheader from Calvin on Tuesday. The host Thunder took the opener 29-0 in game one and then won game two 12-4.
In game one, Trine (23-3 overall, 7-1 MIAA) scored 14 runs in the first half and never looked back. Calvin had hits from junior Ashley Riemersma and freshman Kaley Frank in the loss.
In game two, Calvin banged out 11 hits but Trine recorded 15 including six extra-base knocks.
Calvin (7-15 overall, 2-6 MIAA) was led in defeat by Riemersma and junior Lydia Gildea who were both 3-for-3 at the plate.
Calvin returns to action on Friday when it hosts Cleary College in a non-conference doubleheader at 3:30 p.m.
