Calvin Men's Lacrosse Drops Conference Game at Trine

Box Score

ANGOLA, IN - The Calvin men's lacrosse team dropped a 17-4 conference decision at Trine University Tuesday night.

Calvin hung with the Thunder early as a Jake Horstman goal off a feed from sophomore teammate Chris Griffin brought the Knights to within one at 2-1. Trine scored four unanswered goals before the Knights were able to break the drought with a goal by Tyson Butler.

Trine led 7-2 after one quarter however and then outscored the Knights 4-0 in the second quarter to build an 11-2 halftime lead.

Trine outscored Calvin 3-1 in both the third and fourth quarters. Griffin scored an unassisted goal in the third and Butler added his second goal of the game - also unassisted - in the fourth quarter.

Griffin and Butler are now tied for the team lead in goals with 14 apiece.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mitchel Alexander had another busy night in goal for the Knights and came up with 10 saves.

Freshmen Ethan Brown and Austin Roden had four ground balls apiece. Roden also won eight face offs.

Calvin is back in action on April 22 when it hosts Alma at 4 p.m. at Zuidema Field.
