CLERMONT, FL - Calvin closed out its spring trip to Florida with a split of games on Friday against Minnesota opponents, defeating St. Catherine 9-4 and falling to 14th-ranked St. Thomas 20-6 in five innings.

Over the course of the week, Calvin went 7-3 and is now 8-4 overall on the season.

In the win over St. Catherine, Calvin collected 12 hits led by junior Kelsey Pollock (Greenville/Belding HS) who was 3-for-4 with three runs scored while senior Lina Avila (Lakewood, CA/Valley Christian HS) crushed her third home run of the year.

Junior Merin Cok drove in three runs while freshman Cassidy Vlot (Chowchilla, CA/Chowchilla HS) and junior Christie VanderMeer (Grandville/Grandville HS) had two hits apiece.

Calvin was then unable to stand up to the power of St. Thomas as the Tommies rolled to a mercy-rule win over the Knights.

VanderMeer had three hits in the loss while Vlot drove in a pair of runs.

Senior Caitlin Callow (Rochester/ Muskegon Catholic Central HS) took the loss for Calvin to dip to 4-2 on the year.
