The Calvin men's swimming and diving team evened its season dual meet record at 1-1 with a 187-111 win over Albion Saturday inside the Venema Aquatic Center.
Calvin took first place in 11 events led by sophomore Brett Stoughton (Centerville, IN/Centerville HS) who won the 200 butterfly (2:01.38) and 100 butterfly (52.58).
Calvin took first place in both relays as the group of freshman Tanner Vincent (Novi/Novi HS), sophomore Eli Holstege (Keswick, VA/Covenant HS), Stoughton and junior Mitch Schroder (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) took first place in a time of 1:37.02 while the quartet of Schroder, senior Alex Baumann (Holland/Holland Christian HS) junior Brandon Muma (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Eastern HS) and freshman Skyler Fish (Carson City/Ionia HS) took first place in a time of 3:13.16.
Schroder continued to excel in the freestyle sprints, winning the 50 free in a season-best time of 21.99 while Holstege won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.90.
Other individual winners for Calvin included junior Caleb Meindertsma (Annandale, VA/Trinity Christian HS) in the 1000 freestyle (10:27.69), sophomore Dirk Tanis (Holland/Holland Christian HS) on the one-meter diving board (256.65), junior Aaron Venema (Grand Haven/Grand Haven HS) in the 500 freestyle (4:57.76), freshman Jake Louwerse (Caledonia/South Christian HS) on the three-meter diving board (270.50) and freshman Tanner Vincent in the 400 IM (4:21.72).
Calvin returns to action next Saturday when it competes in a triangular at Alma along with Saginaw Valley State.
